Generator Lubrication system

Lubrication system:-

The bearing lubrication is done by circulating oil under pressure and the complete system forms part of the main tube of the system of the turbine.

Slip rings:-

Slip rings are provided for turbo generators with conventional DC rotating or static excitation system. These are of alloy steel forging shrunk fitted on the rotor shaft  helical grooves are machined on the surface of slip ring for efficient cooling

For rotor earth fault protection the rotor is provided with an additional brush which is fixed to the bearing on the drive side and is in the contact with rotor shaft during operation.

Rotors are dynamically balanced to eliminate unbalance and vibration in operation over speed for the test at 120% of the rate of speed for 2 minutes is carried out to ensure the mechanical soundness of the rotors.

H₂ and seal oil system:-

BHEL Hyderabad Turbo generators are designed for H2 cooling for a generation capacity of 60mwand above radial type of shaft seals are provided ensuring leak proof and safe operation. The system compresses gas drive vacuum  unit liquid level detector’s   H2 and seals oil control panels etc,
