How to Learn free courses online

When it comes to learning a new skill, e-learning sources are preferred more than any physical institute these days. The basic reason is that they are full of convenience and have greater accessibility. Also, some of them are available for free and provides certifications too, so why should anyone visit and pay a whole lot of fees to these institutes.

Though having a degree or certification in a proper format enhances the credibility of your profile or resume. But again not everyone could sit into long lectures and learn a skill. People need flexibility in accordance with time and accessibility. So a huge number of people love to learn through e-learning websites. As we cannot  ignore the fact that the online presence of the world is insanely huge and growing day by day.

So let’s divide the e-Learning platforms in the categories of content available:

General Websites: 

These generally includes all the categories that I have mentioned here.

  1. Udemy: This is the most used platform throughout the world with a large number of users learning everyday. The basic reason is they provide very cheap courses and a lot of them are even free. You also gets a certificate at the end of the course. Also they charge you for individual courses so you don’t have to take a membership plan and pay for the courses you don’t even want.
  2. Eduonix: After Udemy this is the most known platform along with the Khan Academy. This also shares a lot of courses of almost every discipline.
  3. Lyndaa: This is known for its informative and interactive courses though it is now a part under LinkedIn Learning.
  4. Kadenze: It includes all the courses from typography to design, from calligraphy to deep learning. This could be your one stop platform to learn multiple things and various others.

Software Development/Coding:

  1. Udacity: Udacity, Inc. is a for-profit educational organization. They are very skill oriented and focus on quality skill development through real projects. They also offer career opportunities with their partners associated.
  2. Treehouse: It is a great platform for coding, web design and lot more. You can find a variety of contributors too here.
  3. PluralSight: The technology learning platform that provides web development, IT certification and ondemand training that helps your career and your business move forward.
  4. Progate: Progate is an online platform to learn programming. Learn HTML, CSS, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, PHP, Javascript, Java, Swift, Git interactively on the browser.

  11. W3Schools: We Schools is a free e-Learning website that is dedicated to teaching students the various aspects of web design. Students select what they want to learn from a variety of choices including: HTML,PHP, SQL, Jquery,and lot more….

Graphic/Web Design:

  1. Skillshare: Skillshare is an online learning community for creators. Online classes at Skillshare can be created by anyone who wants to teach. The courses, which are not accredited, are available through subscription.
  2. Tutpad: Tutpad is an online learning community for designers. This is from the creators of Freepik and Flaticon etc…

SEO/Marketing:

  1. Google Primer: An app to learn and develop skills in Marketing, Sales, etc.
  2. Backlinko: An SEO and Digital Marketing learning Platform.

Culture/Lifestyle/Arts:

  1. CreativeLive: It is a platform to learn and develop skills in Photography, Art, Music, Design, Lifestyle, and lot more. They also have free classes available.
  2. Drawspace: If you want to learn to draw or improve your technique, Drawspace has free and paid self-study as well as interactive, instructor-led lessons.

MOOCs

This stands for ‘Massive open online course’. These platforms usually have many partner Universities and other organisations which are known throughout the world for their standards of education. And due to the large number of people referring e-learning sites they tend to share their resources to make it available for every common person.

  1. Coursera: Coursera has partnered with museums, universities, and other institutions to offer students free classes on an astounding variety of topics. Students can browse the list of available topics or simply answer the question “What would you like to learn about?”, then when they answer that question they are led to a list of available courses on that topic. Students who are nervous about getting in over their heads can relax.
  2. edX: edX is a massive open online course provider. It hosts online university-level courses in a wide range of disciplines to a worldwide student body, including some courses at no charge.
  3. Khan Academy: Khan Academy doesn’t get top billing due to its popularity. Sal Khan and his team have earned their place by creating self-paced, free, source of online education that has become an industry standard. Khan academy provides an easy path for students to jump in and begin learning about any subject that they choose.
  4. Academic Earth: It probably brings the most unique concept of education that there is. This is the idea that education should be accessible worldwide. This level of access is convenient for many students, but potentially lifesaving for students in underprivileged areas.

Other Platforms:

  1. YouTube: It is a very known platform for videos but now a days people are actively putting tutorials on it for sharing their knowledge and making it available for everyone.
  2. Quora: Quora is a place where people not just Question and Answer but they learn something from how to make a do a basic life hack to any technology related
  3. Medium: After quora this is most read articles platform and also people share their knowledge on certain topics which many readers find helpful and inspiring.
  4. TedEd: Who hasn’t listened to a Ted Talk that was shared on Facebook or other social media sites? Here’s the thing; Ted-Ed is full of educational videos on a variety of general education topics that can be accessed for free. Not only are there motivational speakers on Ted, there are also topical videos, often less than ten minutes each that are full of important information.

Above mentioned points are not based on ranking but placed randomly. Mostly they are kept based on their popularity and type of content available.
